Excellent For Mobile In-Vehicle Applications
Mobile access to the Internet can offer a whole new level of security onboard vehicles such as cars, taxis, police cars, limos, motor coaches, buses, school buses, boats and even commuter trains. In private vehicles or a public vehicles, onboard video surveillance is a popular and growing security application. You can easily put together your own custom mobile video solution by connecting a LAN-Cell 3G/4G router to any Internet enabled digital video recorder (DVR) with cameras attached.
How Fast Will My Connection Be?
The LAN-Cell 3 supports all of the latest high-speed 3G/4G (LTE and HSPA+) cellular standards which provide the bandwidth necessary for fast frame rate and high resolution. 4G LTE networks currently offer a maximum of 28.2 Mbps down 9. 8 Mbps up. 4G HSPA+ networks currently offer a maximum of 21.0 Mbps down 5. 8 Mbps up. Real world performance depends on a number of factors, but the LAN-Cell automatically maximizes the available bandwidth and transmits as fast as the cellular connection will allow.
3G EVDO Rev. A networks offer peak speeds of 3.1 Mbps downstream and 1.8 Mbps upstream with typical "real-world" performance of 500-1200 Kbps down and 350-600 Kbps up. 3G HSUPA currently offers a max of 7.2 Mbps down / 2 Mbps up and real-world performance of 600-1200 Kbps down / 300-800 Kbps up.
For video this translates into potential frame rates as high as 20 fps or more depending upon the 3G service available at your location
and the specifics of your video format.
What About Cellular Costs and Carrier Limits?
The LAN-Cell 2 has several features to help you control costs for remote video applications including our exclusive
Cell-Sentry "watchdog" feature that monitors cellular usage and Bandwidth Management features to throttle video stream rates. Port redirection and end-to-end VPN capabilities allow you to avoid carrier port restrictions without changing your video equipment configuration.
NOTE: Some network operators restrict continuous video streaming applications on their networks. Check with your carrier
regarding your planned usage of remote video applications.
